Harry Hammond
I am currently an Honours student at the Forensic and Clinical Cognition Lab. After completing my undergraduate degree in 2022, I felt a strong desire to return to my studies and ultimately decided to continue pursuing psychology in 2026. During the second year of my undergraduate degree, I developed a particular interest in the cognitive and emotional processes surrounding trauma. This enduring fascination was a primary factor in my decision to further develop my understanding of psychology broadly.
The project I am undertaking will analyse the efficacy of AI as a support tool for individuals engaging in a stressful task. The use of AI chatbots within mental health contexts is becoming increasingly prevalent. It is therefore likely that individuals will choose to utilise these tools when attempting to process traumatic experiences. Despite the growing use of AI chatbots in daily life, empirical research examining their effects on mental health remains limited. This project aims to contribute to this much needed body of research by investigating the utility of AI in processing traumatic content.
