Throughout my undergraduate studies I have a developed an interest in clinical cognition, specifically trauma and memory. This interest has led me to join the Forensic and Cognition Lab this year to undertake my Honours. Previous research has shown that sensitive content warning screens are ineffective at helping users avoid or prepare for distressing content. Yet, it remains unclear how people engage with the sensitive content they do encounter. My project seeks to address this gap by examining the effect of Instagram warning screen on users’ attention to sensitive content. Specifically, I aim to investigate whether sensitive content captures greater attention when preceded by warning screens compared to the absence of warning screens.
